| Before I say anything else, I'll say that I enjoyed this 'midquel.' In fact, I think that The Lion King 1 and 1/2 (or 3) should have gone theatrical. It's sweet, funny and the animation is downright gorgeous. Timon and Pumbaa are two of my favourite characters and I can never get enough of them.
But something's missing. It's that nostalgic feel I get when I watch the first two, especially Simba's Pride. It's simply not there. And it's because this was not part of my childhood like the first films were. I have ... Read More: |

| You don't need to know the story... I'm sure you're aware it's about a fish and his dad. 'Nuff said!
This review is for the parents. My three year old son is pretty hardy but over the year or more he has been watching it I have found myself exercising various levels of censorship. On the whole it's fine but be warned Nemo's mum does get killed, there are murderous sharks, exploding war time mines and spooky deep sea beasts with large teeth! You have been warned :) I still love those darned turtles though..... |

| ..nothing much happens and it is the quietness of this film (particularly compared to life with my own children!) that strikes you. The sense that here is a truly inspirational teacher, doing an excellent job quietly, calmly and with great love for the children builds throughout the film. Absorbing and wonderful..the patience of a dedicated documentary maker pays off. |

| This has to be one of the greatest films ever made. I can add nothing to the previous reviews other than this little anecodte... The first time I went to see this film was after a hectic week of theatre work. I had been in the constant company of one of my fellow actors for over a week, including rehearsals, performances and the party on the last night of the show. | What a disappointment! Started well, nice pylons, but the plot quickly lost all direction and moved from scene to scene of more pylon painting without any plot tension or idea of where it was all going. I found some of the love scenes wincingly trite (walking naked through running water and shouting "I love you"). There were odd scenes that were beautifully done, but I gave up before the end. | Why has the Graham Williams era always been so heavily criticised? In my view, I cant see any forgettable or stupid stories at all. All I can remember are classics like Image Of The Fendahl and The Ribos Operation and The Sun Makers and The Pirate Planet and need I go on?! Oh yeah, City Of Death too! And heres another story to join the ranks as a classic in Doctor Who history.
Underworld has also been criticised for its CSO use with all the caves, but i think the story doesnt look that bad at all. And yet again then are great comic moments, such ... Read More: |
