VHS : The Beatles - Yellow Submarine [1968]
In my case that was 1969. That's when I saw this in a double billing with Barbarella (1968) at West Point, NY.

The music is great and it brings back a part of history. Can the Beatles save Pepperland? Remember we all live in a Yellow Submarine. Instead of just buying the soundtrack, buy the movie and you have them both. I guess I will have to buy it also to hear "Hey, Bulldog!" Of course as with most movies there will always be someone one that prefers the original and knows that it ... Read More:

VHS : Doctor Who: Revenge of the Cybermen [1963]
I will confess that this story is not as good as I thought it would be but as time passes it does grow on me.

The cybermen themselves are back on track after their underused performance in 'The Invasion' and are seen to be a lot more cunning and manipulative. E.g. using human greed to aquire the services of a human agent. However I am disapointed that they don't have much involvement in the story until episode 3 but their performance makes up for that.

Tom Baker is excellent ... Read More:

VHS : Schindler's List [1994]
In telling Schindler's story the director chose black and white and the beginning intimates that it might be in the great tradition of 'The Third Man' etc. Unfortunately the film meanders astray into detailed descriptions of the holocaust and the dynamic of the film is lost. Instead of a tense 1 hour 50 minutes of cunning, guile and threat there are literal hours when almost everything is 'spelt out' in many long takes and diversions. The great film techniques of suggestion and inference are little used as almost ... Read More:

VHS : Watch With Mother
If your children constantly demand Telebubbies, Bob the Builder or Thomas the Tank Engine them give them a change with a classic episode or two of Watch with Mother. I don't know whether it was the operatic singing of nursery rhymes in Andy Pandy, the incomprehensible dialogue of Bill and Ben, or the surreal plot of of Muffin the Mule but this video never fails to keep little horrors quiet for an hour or so. The best thing is that you can and sit and enjoy the episodes too!

This film is really excellent, brilliant story, acting and directing.

I was just wondering if someone can shed any light on the reason behind not being able to buy it new...?

VHS : Etre Et Avoir [2002]
..nothing much happens and it is the quietness of this film (particularly compared to life with my own children!) that strikes you. The sense that here is a truly inspirational teacher, doing an excellent job quietly, calmly and with great love for the children builds throughout the film. Absorbing and wonderful..the patience of a dedicated documentary maker pays off.

VHS : The Return Of Jafar (Disney) [1994]
In this sequel to Disney's Aladdin, the young 'street-rat' and his friends, Abu, Jasmine, Rajah and Sultan (not forgetting Genie) are back and battling against the evil Jafar. He has returned as an all-powerful genie (as we all remember from the original) and out for revenge.
The graphics and animation may not be as good as in the first film, and Dan Castellaneta is no substitute for Robin Williams, but this is a worthy sequel. Actually, Castellaneta's effort is praiseworthy.
I personally love it for the way it handles the complex ... Read More:
