VHS : Doctor Who - The Day Of The Daleks [1972]
The ninth season of Doctor Who opened with a group of guerillas from earth in the twenty-third century, travelling back three hundred years in time. Their mission is to assassinate a British diplomat and sabotage a peace process. They believe that by doing so, they can prevent a great terror in the future.
The Daleks return to Doctor Who after a five year absence. This is an enjoyable, if not classic, adventure from Pertwee's era. Pertwee and the regulars are all on fine form. A special ... Read More:

VHS : Doctor Who: Revenge of the Cybermen [1963]
I will confess that this story is not as good as I thought it would be but as time passes it does grow on me.

The cybermen themselves are back on track after their underused performance in 'The Invasion' and are seen to be a lot more cunning and manipulative. E.g. using human greed to aquire the services of a human agent. However I am disapointed that they don't have much involvement in the story until episode 3 but their performance makes up for that.

Tom Baker is excellent ... Read More:

VHS : Doctor Who - Underworld [1977]
Why has the Graham Williams era always been so heavily criticised? In my view, I cant see any forgettable or stupid stories at all. All I can remember are classics like Image Of The Fendahl and The Ribos Operation and The Sun Makers and The Pirate Planet and need I go on?! Oh yeah, City Of Death too! And heres another story to join the ranks as a classic in Doctor Who history.

Underworld has also been criticised for its CSO use with all the caves, but i think the story doesnt look that bad at all. And yet ... Read More:

VHS : Doctor Who - The Movie [1996]
Doctor Who - The Movie [1996] [1963] This is perhaps one of the most underated DVD's in the whole Doctor Who series both new and classic. The main problem is the bad guy or more specifically the actor who portrays him, Eric Roberts is a great bad guy in lots of B'Movies but just wasn't right for this film (his choice was forced on the writers/director due to pressure from the american backers). On the whole though the film is a great little jaunt, the interior of the TARDIS is fantastic and McGann plays the role fantastically. ... Read More:

VHS : Brave New World
Leslie Libman and Larry Williams' movie "Brave New World", which was originally written by Aldous Huxley, is about a "savage" named John in a utopian society in which mankind seems to live without any problems or issues. John is thrown in to that lifestyle but starts questioning it, not feeling comfortable with the idea of designing humans, not being in love with one another or taking free drugs so no one starts questioning things.

The directors did not leave the story unedited. A good example is the very first chapter, in which ... Read More:

The War Games is an epic story that sees the departure of the cosmic hobo,Patrick Troughton, the iconic 2nd Doctor, long serving companion Jamie, played by Frazer Hines and the lovely,Wendy Padbury, playing super intelligent Zoe Heriot.

This is the collector's edition and I suggest you get it while you can, as they only sold them up til Christmas Eve of '97, which should make them quite valuable!
And I know because I almost wasn't able to grab one, so get one off Amazon now, keep it for a few years and hope it becomes more valuable in a few years!!

VHS : Doctor Who - The Deadly Assassin [1976]
This is an excellent adventure written by Robert Holmes, probably the best script writer the show ever had, and who wrote some of my favourite episodes including this, plus 'Spearhead From Space', 'The Ark In Space', 'The Talons Of Weng Chiang' and 'The Caves Of Androzani'.

The Galifrey set is looking a bit dated now, but it also looked quite low-tech in 1976 as well. What really makes this a special episode for me, is the brilliant plot, plus the Doctor going through the Matrix. The Matrix is an hallaguenic dream sequence with the Doctor facing ... Read More:

VHS : Doctor Who - The Robots of Death [1986] [1963]
I watched my tape of Robots of Death again last night. Such a tightly focussed story! The Doctor and Leela (who must be one of the sexiest characters on British TV ever) land on a huge mining vessel crossing the sands of a desert planet. They quickly become caught up in a series of ongoing murders; someone is trying to finish off the crew. Clearly as outsiders they come under suspicion. Its superb stuff from beginning to end and its a shock to recall that at one time Saturday early evening TV rose to this level of intelligence and above all imagination. ... Read More:
