| First the good news : Easy to install on XP and the interface seems user friendly. Now the not so good news : Despite running incremental backups every week for several months when I actually needed to use the product it did not restore all of the data and hung at 97% completion. Perhaps foolishly I tried again and was informed that the backup was corrupted. Gave up. Reinstalled the OS and system software the old fashioned way and am manually backing up data every week onto external HDD. On reflection ... Read More: |

| Having read the other reviews here and elsewhere I gave it a whirl.
My purchase was due to having installed windows a fresh due to some dual boot issues and I simply could not be bothered doing it all again. One 400GB hard drive to be divided, already running windows XP - Arconis installed quickly no problems, scanned the drives within 10 seconds, gave me automated options and upon chopping the disk into a 100gb system drive and a 300gb data drive I hit commit and it was done, reeboot required to complete ... | No better than MS backup really. Then functions have been stunted and all the software does is tell you what you can do with the full version.
Given 1 star because you may be able to use this to get a cheaper upgrade price. However I wanted this for an old win98 computer I have and the new version is not supported on win98. Save your money. |

| I find many of my backup files both on internal disk drives and on external USB disk are unreadable. I started checking the images with Acronis' own "Check Image" feature and found most of them reporting "The image archive is corrupted". Unless you check every archive after creating it, you may find that backup is useless.
I now use Ghost 9. |

| Acronis True Image really has produced a top notch PC backup application here. I had no problems creating, managing and restoring complete images of my hard drive using an external USB device, with all the peace of mind that this affords.
One warning - several builds (or revisions) of True Image 9.0 have been released over time. The latest build is 3677. My retail copy of True Image 9.0, purchased from Amazon.co.uk only as recently as 12th November 2006, was quite an old build (2302) which probably also explains the cheaper price! ... Read More: |

when things went wrong and I then had to spend days reinstalling my software while knowing that I had lost some information forever. I decided to dual boot my new computer with Vista and Windows XP and realised I needed to have a reliable backup system if things went wrong. I installed Acronis True Image 10 on my Vista Hard Drive and printed out the True Image Manual so I could always refer to it should my computer die on me. Read More: |
