| I was expecting a lot more from this album, especially after the second single release, Moving To New York. It promised a slightly more interesting and mature sound then the first, very pop sound of Let's All Dance to Joy Division. I was left underwhelmed by the mish mash of sounds, tempo and styles, non of which grabbed my attention long enough to make me want to hear the next track. |

Where as Elfman used a much more uptempo score with flurries of brass, the Zimmer/Howard score is alternately high percussive or symphonic with strings. | I bought this album because I really like the track 'Mr Brightside' which is excellent and easily the best thing on the album. Some of the others are ok but I couldn't listen to this from start to finish as it would annoy me intensely. The reason I'm not that fond of it is because I often struggle to see a lot in mainstream pop music generally - it all seems to have either been done before or just doesn't mean anything to me I'm afraid! | In a discussion recently I remarked to a friend how Nine Inch Nails are the only band who [in my opinion] have never made a bad album. However, I now take my comment back. While the production of the album is first rate, the songs fall far from the industrial noise come conceptual evolutions that have propelled Trent Reznor through the last decades. | Have I missed something here in this assortment of music tracks?
The styles are all over the place and together in this order not many of these tracks flow at all! I prefer these compilations to stick to a certain time line or theme. I don't know what 'my songs' is on about, but to put current chart music with ones that are at least 18 years of age, ie, fluffy clouds - I don't get it! | This is my favourite play at the moment, I guess that I am a little late in trying Mr Buble's music, but I am a convert. Think of a nicely warmed, quality single malt, good crystal glass, this is that smooth, just slides down, leaving a pleasant glow behind. Good in the car, great on the MP3 player, nice in the background during dinner with friends. This album has a great selection of tracks, well known classics of the genre, and others, new to me at least. Just try it! |
