| I normally buy these albums out of some sort of compulsion, which I realise is playing into the hands of those who make it-but this one is actually worth buying there are loadsa good songs on it from artists who I wouldn't buy an album of but like the one song.
My favourites are: American Boy, Warwick Avenue, Love Song, Can't Speak French, Denial, 10 000 Nights, That's Not My Name, Heartbeat, Cops and Robbers, Violet Hill, Take A Bow, No Air (although this is a rubbish version, he album version ... Read More: |

| We all know Duffy as a rapper who may not have a great message like Mos Def, Talib, Common or Lupe, but her lyricism and ability to make even the simplest words sound unique is great. She is usually fast paced, rhymes extremely well, and all in all, puts herself on a level with B.I.G. and Pac.

| A pretty good movie soundtrack, featuring all the songs from the movie. Meryl Streep is a surprisingly good singer (though I feel she over emoted in The Winner Takes It All). The girl who plays Sophie basically carries the CD and more than makes up for the less than stellar voices in the cast. Julie Waters provides the comic relief in "Take A Chance On Me". Pierce Brosnan does a passable "When All is Said and Done" but unfortunately manages to kill "SOS".

| Despite all the cross referencing on here to CSN and Brian Wilson, the band that comes to my mind, when listening to this, is Peter Paul & Mary (esp covering John Denver's "Leaving On A Jet Plane"). There are a few outstanding tracks on here (really outstanding) but tracks 4 to 7 are a little on the weak side and needed some help. I'm not saying they're poor just that the band needed to take some time to get a better running order as there's a bit of a hole in the middle. Perhaps the excellent "Your Protector" should have ... | Dont get me wrong i like all sorts of music especially folk however, this album like all of his other albums are overated. I actually think this album is the poorest of all of them. For a start its the same tempo through out and like his other albums they tend to sound the same. The main problem for me is his voice i suppose you either love it or hate it i find is voice grating after a couple of tracks. If you want to hear a great folk artistic who does this much better check out the great Richard Thompson and dont waste your money on this. |

| What can I say that's new ? I agree with the majority of the reviews here ... this is a superb album. Play it several times and you'll find that there are no 'throw-away' tracks - each and every one of them is good enough to be an A side ( terminology from my early years )had we still been in the EP era.

| I love Sigur Ros, and this is a fine album but I cannot help but feeling disappointed. It is indeed another step towards more mainstream audiences, with noise levels toned down and awkward silences ridden of - but this isn't the problem, it's only natural that this would have happened. The problem is that the pain is gone, and without it their music is just some interesting arrangements and atmospheric tunes.
