I rented this film expecting from the reviews that it would be mildly diverting. In the event I found it laugh-out-loud funny: I have not laughed so much while watching a film for months if not years. And most of the time I was laughing with the film, not at it. In more than one way this film was surprisingly similar to a film on the same subject which Bob Hope had made more than fifty years previously (Casanova's Big Night, 1954). | I really don't understand how people can be so malicious about this movie. I was hesitant about watching it as I thought it looked good, but I really wasn't a Miller fan. But having watched it, I honestly loved it. I'm not saying it couldnt be improved, because couldn't everything? | This is a decent enough, easy watch exploring the topic of control and gender in an entertaining fashion, a reworking of the sadly murdered Theo van Gogh film of the same name (Buscemi honours him in the credits and also with the removal van in the early part of the film). The essence of the film is how men, regardless of their own inflated opinions of their intelligence and worldliness, and, despite their better instincts, can't help but be manipulated and wooed by femmes fatales.

| This is program is hard to explain its a drama in places, a comedy in others and a soap in others. Every scene is two couples in bed discusing the events of the day. OK that's a rubbish discription but its hard. I bought the first series noing nothing about it I couldn't get over how good it was. The second is just as good. The dialouge is clever witty and the characters so well defined. Everything you'd want from a half hour of tellevison. |
