From the point of view of an adult this film has lots of flaws - perhaps too long and the humour wasn't so great and the love story a bit unconvincing.But for children it is something of a wonder with tremendous special effects,battleaxe witches,sword fights,chases on horseback,a pirate ship that flies through the air,palaces and cities built on towering mountain peaks ( much of the scenery is scottish), and mystery and mayhem all over the place. I've owned the previous 5-Disc Set of the Godfather (2001 Release), and I can safely say that the Coppola Restoration is well worth getting, especially at this price, and even better in this limited steelbook package. I've compared the pictures of the two sets on a Plasma, and there is a huge difference between the two, the print on this new dvd set is far better than the other, a huge differnce in the brightness of the picture, enables the viewer to see clearly and slightly more of the picture. ... First things first i am a huge Scorsese fan, however this film left me feeling very cold and unfulfilled. The cast is superb and the storyline could have been interesting, however what i found most surprising is that i simply did not care. The characters are disfunctional but this does not endear you to them, in fact it irritated me. This is a brilliant film. Definitely the greatest mobster film to date. As with Casino, Joe Pesci steals the show for me, although the rest of the acting was also fantastic. The only problem for me is that other when I compare this to other great films it makes them look bad!

This isn't quite up there with Goodfellas, but it's still an incredible ride. The cinematography and music are stunning, and the violence is harsh and brutal stuff. It's an interesting story, very well told, and should be seen by anyone who enjoys a good gangster movie. Fine stuff.

This film has a suprising amount of A-list actors in it and deserves more recognition I think. Robert DeNiro plays his role as Father Bobby exceptionally well and Brad Pitt and Kevin Bacon also provide good performances. Essentially great injustices are done and finally righted with sweet revenge, the interplay of all the characters as this story of revenge unfolds is at least partly what makes it such a good movie.

I was rather disappointed with a film that went on far too long (during the last hour I was continually fast forwarding the action). It is always a good idea to enable the viewer to empathise with the main characters - in this film there was actually nothing to like about any of the main characters. At times the dialogue plodded along and I was waiting for something of note to happen - it very rarely did! Boring and not a patch on the Godfather or Goodfellas.

I watched this film for the first time today, oblivious as to what it was about and only interested in it because of the rave reviews I'd heard. Well, it definatley wasn't what I ewas expecting, but it was very good none the less. Set in the 1930s when alchohol was illegal in the US, Al Capone is the Crime Lord trading the stuff for masses of money, and Eliot Ness, the federal Agent who is determined to bring him down.
