| Although the amazon site includes the wrong sound samples above (they are from the LaPone revival), this item is indeed the original cast recording with Lansbury and Cariou. Even better, it's been remastered and includeds 2 bonus track not featured on the original (and much more expensive) RCA double disc. What a find! |

| This album might not viewed differently by classical music enthusiasts but for a middle-roader like me, it was great. I bought it before my exams and instead of my usual dead silence studying technique, i had this playing in the background. It is very beautiful music and David is obviously well-gifted. I think i will go ahead and get his earlier stuff.

| Classic Zimmer and some. Listen carefully and you hear strains of The Da Vinci Code and Gladiator filtering through. Not a critisism, it's just his style. You'll also here the influences of other classical composers coming through, not unusual. While parlay is a delightful homage to Morricone's scoring to the classic duel in 'Once Upon a Time in the West'. Makes me smile everytime I hear it, and wish it were longer. |

| It has to be said that there is little more versatile as the human voice as an instrument. This proves the point beyond measure.
Clarity, emotion and total respect for the piece are in abundance throughout the album. Wonderful. |

| Anyone who has heard and enjoyed the work of Harold Budd, Steve Reich, Michael Nyman or John Cage should find Ferndorf a fascinating listen . Cage is probably the most apt comparison as Dusseldorf-based pianist and composer Volker Bertelmann, who records as Hauschka has a similar avant garde approach to playing the piano as Cage , or rather did- He often modifies the piano in the middle of live concerts in order to provoke different sounds and textures from it and his last album utilised this "prepared piano" technique .

| This is the opera that shot Georgiu to stardom. It's easy to see why, with her combination of acting, looks and singing. Violetta is a very difficult role, it places very different demands on the singer in each act. Georgiu isn't quite ideal for act 1, but after that she's really in her element. You can practically see the paternal pride in Solti's face as he watches his young protegee bloom. Surely the definitive Traviata. |

| I am not musically literate, i.e i dont know a crotchet from a quaver but i know what i like, is it an exagerration to say that if we had to show one example of the greatness and potential of human culture, to say some visiting aliens, would it be reasonable to play them these recordings? |
