| This album might not viewed differently by classical music enthusiasts but for a middle-roader like me, it was great. I bought it before my exams and instead of my usual dead silence studying technique, i had this playing in the background. It is very beautiful music and David is obviously well-gifted. I think i will go ahead and get his earlier stuff.
Relating to the tracks, I can never get bored of any 'Carmen' version, Maria Callas et al, so I obviously loved his take on it. Also ... Read More: |

| Russell Watson is not an opera singer but a pop singer who for some reason has made a little talent go a long way and has been quite successful here in the in the uk, due to serval TV shows.If you want to listen to a real tenor try Domingo or good old Pavarotti now these men can sing and have been in many opera's. |

| This is a wonderful, wonderful performance of "Giselle!" I like the story of this ballet because of its essential point of unconditional love and forgiveness, given undeserved, and I felt that the stars of this production, Alina Cojocaru and Johan Kobborg, helped make that dramatic point very well. Of course, they also delivered awesome, wonderful and sometimes jaw-dropping balletic performances!

| Anyone who has heard and enjoyed the work of Harold Budd, Steve Reich, Michael Nyman or John Cage should find Ferndorf a fascinating listen . | As a professional concert pianist for the last thirty years or so, it was a great relief to find that they have released everything you need on 2 CDs. Sure enough, since I bought it I have been able to discard the 1000 or so CDs that I had collected of performers like Cortot, Horowitz, Rachmaninoff and Schnabel (and I now have enough room for a pool table!). They are simply not necessary when you have these two CDs. |

| Nigel Hess's piano concerto was commissioned in memory of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother: hence the somewhat portentous titles for each of the movements. It is a shame that it occupies a CD all on its own (at under 23 minutes) and it would make an excellent coupling with Howard Blake's, the latter piece having been dedicated to Princess Diana.
Hess is primarily a film music composer, and clearly needed the `hook' of a extra-musical concept in order to get his creative juices flowing, however he wouldn't be alone amongst composers ... Read More: |

| After watching the film, then buying the book and film guide, this was was a natural choice. I have listened to it more than any other CD in the collection. The orchestral tracks are exremely well composed and performed. There are tracks from the original soundtrack too (including La Scala's spontanious opera songs). A classic! |

| This recording of the Cambridge Singers has them recording pieces composed by their own director, John Rutter. The Magnificat is Rutter's version of a standard piece of liturgical music, an intersection of old and new.
