| Having read three Oliver James books now, I begin to detect a pattern. Shaky hypothesis, boosted by hyperbolic journalese, padded from its natural Sunday magazine length by anecdote and repetition.... it's terrible self-regarding tosh. Sorry but it's the truth. |

| I was drawn to this book having read the chapter about it in Tom Butler-Bowdon's 50 Psychology Classics. I had never heard of 'positive psychology' before, but its aims - to increase the happiness of 'normal' people, rather than cure the psychoses of 'ill' people - has definite appeal.

| When I first dipped into this book I did not think it was for me. There was too much 'loud' stuff. I could envisage 'group hugs' and the American way of doing things. It felt way too touchy-feely for me; however, I contined and was ultimately so pleased that I did. Robbins has such a way with writing and inspiring it is quite clear why he is the person he is today. |

| I found O'Connor & Lages's style to be useful and straightforward, with a continuous emphasis on practice. Very helpful for someone familiar with NLP and keen to use it in coaching. Regular reminders to avoid psychoanalysing clients and just helping them get on with their agenda proved very useful to me. Very useful book. |

| I have been a great fan of Tony Buzan for many years. His techniques really do work and I urge you to buy this product and persevere with them. I use them all the time and they are easy to understand and apply in everyday life. Don't kid yourself, though, you have to work at the method and you can persuade yourself that you are really using mind maps properly when in reality you're not. The proof will be in how the power of your mind is able to be revealed to you and you feel suddenly empowered. |

| I too am completing my Social Work Degree and this text was recommended for my psychology module and it has been an invaluable text. Beckett writes in a clear manner that is easy to understand and each chapter is well written. Theories are explained clearly in such a way that makes them easier to understand, particularly as psychology can be very over loading! I would recommend this book to anyone completing their Social Work Degree and I am sure you will find it just as useful. Best of luck! |

| I was really enjoying reading this book and thinking how good it was when I came accross the bit that talks about Autism, I was shocked and disgusted to read they were basically blaming the parents for causing their childs Autism. This is an outdated and depressing view. I hope the revised edition has changed this. |
