| I brought this book while waiting for my son to be diagnosed with what I thought might be autism. He was 2 yrs at the time and the book has provided me with loads of ideas and advice. Its written in an easy and understable format and provided some great ideas and approaches, regarding the concept of what toys to buy and how to use them.
It also gives you a guide into there world and how to try and understand it from their view point. Well worth the price I paid for it. |

| I had been given numerous books on pregnancy, all of which I found were quite patronising really, or do this, don't do this etc.
This is NOT like those other books - it is brilliant and funny, and is my week by week bible/bedtime read! Written by a real person talking about real things in a real language that we can understand and relate to. I'm now here to buy her next book, which I can only imagine will be just as good! The what to do with it/what to expect when it arrives part! |

| Excellent for a reference guide, but as another reviewer says, don't try and read it all at once! It is a bit American in its style and you may find parts of it a little prescriptive, but if you use it to refer to in case of any problems, it's serving its purpose. |

| i got this book for my early years class. i dont think its good for studys but it will be really usefull if i ever went into working in this area. it gets you to think about putting the consepts of early years into practise with the children you work with so it would also be good for people doing primary school studdys for when they are on placement. i would not recomend this book to students doing academic studys but for people directly working with young children this book will be great. |

| an excellent book i have even learn't about my 3yr old birth child . This book has really helped me understand about childrens behaviour and how adoption might effect their development what to be expected and what not .this is a must for anybody going through the adoption process. |

The advice in the book is born from years of experience as a school psychologist and mother of daughters. JoAnn Deak is not one of these theorists that has no direct experience of their subject! As a father, the section of the book for fathers, was invaluable. |
