| I thought this book was going to brillant - full of humor and wonderful advice. The only good bit of advice was "drink lots of wine". To be totally honest this book made me cry into my wine, it made me so unhappy and resentful, maybe her husband wouldn't help her up if her step-kid tripped her over in the street but my boyfriend definately would! | I bought this book as my parents wanted to find out what they could do to support my husband and I through the adoption process. Since buying a copy for them I have been back and bought another 6 copies for all our relatives and closest friends, as it's relevant to anyone who will be involved in the life of the children we adopt.

| A wonderful book; honest, humourous, affectionate and never accusing. BUT read it before your baby comes as it is the only thing that can begin to prepare you for the madness! I got it out of my library in desperation when my baby boy was a month old and it made so much sense. | I brought this book while waiting for my son to be diagnosed with what I thought might be autism. He was 2 yrs at the time and the book has provided me with loads of ideas and advice. Its written in an easy and understable format and provided some great ideas and approaches, regarding the concept of what toys to buy and how to use them.
It also gives you a guide into there world and how to try and understand it from their view point. Well worth the price I paid for it. |

| This book is excellent and gives clear guidance to Mums on what to do when weaning your baby. As a first time Mum, this book answered loads of my questions from what consistency purées should be to what quantities you should try with your baby. I used the very precise timetable and meal planners as a guide and adapted it to meet the needs of my baby. |

| As a child and adolescent mental health worker I recommend this book regularly where there have been attachment difficulties in the past.
I strongly disagree with the previous reviewer. It is easy to feel overwhelmed by 'psycho-babble' but when it comes to children who have been neglected or abused you need to know what you are dealing with before you can deal with it. The theory is dealt with in less than 40 pages, and in a mostly accessible way. Some of it does lose me a bit, but if I stick with it it makes sense. ... Read More: |
