| This was the first book I read by Torey Hayden and I immediately had to get to the computer to order some more. I did not immediately realise that it was a true story but, once I did realise, this added to the compulsion to read this book without putting it down.
The comment from the Times on the back cover describes it as an 'unaplogetic tear-jerker' but I did not find it at all upsetting. A real insight into human emotions, behaviour and relationships. Not a consistently happy ending ... Read More: |

| I am a great fan of Brian Tracy's work. He has a gift for simplifying potentially complex topics in a logical step-wise manner that is easy to assimilate and internalise. He also has a good soothing yet assertive speaking voice which is crucial for audio lectures of this nature.
The two CDs that come with this package are both very good quality and are broken down into clearly defined topics - it is a shame that there is no accompanying leaflet to display the topic titles , neither are they ... Read More: |

| Oliver James really is in need of a good editor, this book bangs on and on about the fact that nurture is more important than nature. He's too extreme in his view for my taste, I still think it's a bit of both.
However since nurture is the only thing we have any control over, perhaps its reasonable to concentrate on it. He could really have summarised his argument in one chapter and then gone on to describe how to diagnose and basically fix yourself. However he rambles, boy does ... Read More: |

| Having read the Game I thought this would be a good read. However it's not. The only advice given is 'make eye contact'. Superb. The book has a cheap feel to it as if it's been printed in the guy's garage, plus it's also quite disjointed. There are plenty of more useful books out there. |

| As a Nurse Lecturer I recommend this book to all my mental health students. I first read it as a first year trainee psychiatric nurse and it saved my career. There I was sitting in a care of the elderly ward in a mental hospital thinking "what the (*&^ is going on here!?", ready to pack it in, and then I started to read this book. As I progressed through the book it all began to make sense and Goffman became my hero! What a man, what a researcher, what a writer. | Very informative book for those suffering from acute to severe chronicblushing and the fear of blushing. This books offer ways in which totame this condition, it does not promise a 'cure' as this would clearly bemisleading. I found it particulaly useful to see that there were infactpeople out there going through a problem which I thought only I had! |
