| I also bought this book after seeing the author on TV but I completely disagree with the reader who says he doesn't recommend products. Page 134 has a long list of tried and tested products where he names brands which are really good for face and also for body too - so he does spill all those trade secrets! I found it a really good buy and really helpful - and it's probably saved me money I would otherwise have spent on expensive moisturisers and creams. |

| This is a very good book with very clear instructions, the illustrations are helpful to give you an idea of what your own batch should look like. Melinda Coss prefers to hand stir her soap, I, however would recommend a stick blender as most soaps will trace in a matter of minutes this way. If you have time on your hands I am sure stirring is very theraputic, for myself making a batch of soap is something I do once the kids have gone to bed so a stick blender is just the trick. |

But I was having an awful day, and it was cheap at the bookstore, so I picked it up as a nice respite from all the modernist stuff I was having to read for coursework. And I was pleasantly surprised. Shanker is amusing, and she is earnest: these are the good things. This book has really helped calm my skin down and taken much of the guessing out of searching for products.
