| Having read this book I should say from the outset that this method did not work for me, however, I have lent the book to over 5 friends of mine (Sorry!) and all have managed to as soon as finishing the book!!

| I picked this book up with anticipation, having read an extract of it that I thoroughly enjoyed. I expect more of the same laughs and bitter resentments, but was somewhat confounded by the full diaries. The books is more centred around Gray's plumbing of the depths of his past, heaping mockery upon himself, expressing disgust at the man he has become, and thinking about what his fifteen year-old self would have thought of his sixty five year-old self. | I agree with one of the reviews on the inside cover of the paperback edition which calls Frey selfish, egocentric, violent & pompous. I sensed from the off that something wasn't quite right about the tale Frey was telling. Ultimately he seems more concerned with telling a good story than saying anything that may benefit other recovering addicts. | I did want to give up smoking, but kept making excuses to carry on, like "I'm stressed because of the divorce" or "I might as well smoke while I'm working away because I'm bored and lonely" etc etc. Apparently us women are masters at creating excuses to justify the habit (well I know that's true for me). Allen Carr's book dispelled a lot of the myths attached to smoking. The most surprising one for me is the "withdrawal of nicotine" myth. | This book, written by a handful of alcoholics who found a way to recover, seems to me to be divinely inspired. I tried every other way I could find to stop drinking. Some of them worked for a while. But just avoiding drink left me feeling so miserable that in the end I always started drinking again. This book is different. It's not just about abstaining from drink. It has shown me a completely different way to live and be happy. If you have a drink problem, buy it, read it, get to meetings, get a sponsor. | When I started reading this book I found it very difficult to put down!! Nikki Sixx has poured his heart and soul into 'the heroin diaries' and its as fascinating as it is witty and in parts very sad.
A lot of close friends and family members have contributed and often shed Nikki in a rather negative light (and some embarassing stories for Slash too!) but he doesnt try to sugarcoat anything and admits to being difficult!
