| I suppose this is a good read for those who want a textbook version of reality, but this book aint reality. Im going through a messy divorce as I type and what the book doesnt tell you is how bl**dy slow the whole process is, and the fact that legal aid solicitors take their time and barely do anything for you (forget trying to get any court order or speedy reply or appointment, this is the NHS of law), and how the system screws women who leave abusive men from just about every angle.

| Jargon free, logical and totally on the money, this is one of the best relationship self help books I've read. It was refershing to find something written for a British audience with familiar cultural points-of-reference that the American books lack, and the common sense analysis will help you focus on what you already know is going wrong, and what you already know you have to do. Utterly recommended. |

| I bought this and FAMILY COURT HELL by Mark Harris. The advice in HELPING CHILDREN COPE WITH DIVORCE is best digested after reading FAMILY COURT HELL, which graphically shows what can happen if one parent chooses to be obstructive. Be a great idea if all divorcing parents could be made to read both books first. I strongly recommend buying both books and reading cover to cover whatever stage of the divorce process you are in or approaching. |

| I am forty seven and recently got divorced from my wife of 23 years by mutual consent. We were really worried about how this would affect our kids so we bought as many books as possible on the subject and read them from cover to cover. | This is an absolutely excellent book. We split up when my son was one year old and I went through divorce spanning the next year or more . I wish I'd had the book then and we wouldn't have got into the mess we did over visitation as this book gives clear and specific advice on what is normal and fair for that. I agreed to a scheme that was totally suited to my ex's life - he lived an hour away out of town - and didn't fit the child's needs at all.
