| This book is excellent! The recipes are categorised by age and gradually introduce your baby to new tastes and textures. The recipes have simple and few ingredients and are easy to follow. I followed the meal planner but found it a bit ambitious, but I just adapted it to when my daughter was ready for new tastes. She's 7+ months now and really loves mixed fruit and vegetables, braised beef casserole and will eat anything with cheese sauce. This is the only recipe book you'll need when starting ... | I really don't need yet one more unqualified would-be dietician telling me I need to keep cramming mush into my baby. Even UNICEF now reccomends we drop the facination with purees, so I'll quite happily stop giving Ms. Karmel my money to tell me how to puree the family meal. |

| This book is great if you are an employee, british, and watch too much TV. There is no mention about being your own boss. There is too much indicating that he thinks blokes are fearful of their partners and should try to interpret the situation to prevent being smacked on the head by the woman. Nothing mentioned about blokes also having feelings. | I bought this book because of all the wonderful reviews it had gotten and read it cover to cover while pregnant. When baby appeared however i soon realized that the advice in this book did not suit my baby at all. To begin with there is absolutely no helpful advice given on colic.. we get one paragraph relating to the colic of a breastfed baby where Gina tells us its to do with how long we breastfeed our babies and that none of her babies ever had colic (making us feel like bad parents thank you!). | is how this book is written, as commented below it's not written by an 'expert' (but I would suggest that a mother of 4 IS an expert!) however, the research done by the author to write the book includes sourcing other books-as we all probably do and talking to / testing her ideas with other mums - as we all probably do. | Ok Ok so there ARE flaws in this book and i'm not about to say that her tone and habit of referring to her readers as "duckie" and "luv" isn't annoying but i work in child psychiatry/psychology and it taught me a few new tricks!

| I had been given numerous books on pregnancy, all of which I found were quite patronising really, or do this, don't do this etc.
This is NOT like those other books - it is brilliant and funny, and is my week by week bible/bedtime read! Written by a real person talking about real things in a real language that we can understand and relate to. I'm now here to buy her next book, which I can only imagine will be just as good! The what to do with it/what to expect when it arrives part! |

| Taking the book with me on the bus or at the Waitrose checkout or at the barbers shop or Sussex University its title attracts attention. In the brief encounters which follow I enjoy speaking to parents whose infants obviously enjoy what's going on with the adults. I'm able to affirm that the love care and attention they give the child in those early years do make a difference and will set her up for life. | great recipes (shame no pics tho - i do like a recipe book to have pics) which we are still using in our house (not just the toddler recipes) cos they're healthy, low on salt, sugar ecetera and as littlun has got older we've just stopped pureeing them.
good buy and plenty of scope for improvisation if you don't have the exact ingredients |
