Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Navigation Good. Traffic TMC useless. FM transmission poor.
For me sat nav needs to be able to plot a good route through congested routes around London and avoid traffic jams as much as possible. I therefore made sure I got a TomTom with IQ routes and traffic. The route finding with IQ routes works well and overall the unit is easy to use however there are a couple of major disappointments.

The TMC traffic service is rubbish. Barely functional. Despite days of fiddling with it, it can only get reception occassionally and often requires manual tuning. Searching for answers I have found that the TomTom TMC devices have never worked properly and there are hundreds of dissatisfied owners. The alternative is to use TomTom's subscription traffic service which downloads the information from a bluetooth mobile phone. Unfortunately this does not work with my iPhone. The lack of decent traffic info makes the TomTom pretty poor at getting me around London effectively.

The other issue I have found is with the FM radio feature. You can connect an iPod or iPhone to the unit and use it to beam music to your car radio via fm. However the FM signal from the TomTom is very quiet and there is no volume control so the sound quality is poor. Also, strangely it does not broadcast directions over FM, just the music.

All in all a disappointing series of glitches that stop the TomTom Go from being really good.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Voted best Sat Nav in loads of surveys!
I think this Sat Nav is brilliant. I had a Sony Sat Nav which I'd only had a month or so before it was stolen during a break in at my home. The Sony was not very user friendly, this TomTom is very easy to use and has come up with some very original short cuts and alternative routes. I leave behind colleagues and arrive at the destination ahead of them. Well worth the extra few bob.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - TomTom No POI
I have had a TT300 for 3 years and recently bought a Medion Go-Pal, which is excellent, but regretted buying it because of the small screen.
So, I went back to TT and bought the 730T with the european maps, simply because it wasn't much dearer than the 530T on Amazon.
I knew that I wasn't going to be disappointed with the performance of the unit because of my previous experience, but I was surprised that a major road that had the "no right turn" restriction lifted over two years ago, had not been corrected. I strongly believe that the TT maps are not entirely updated.
As for the POI's, it may as well not be included with the TT. For instance, when you look for shops, all it shows is Partco's!
I have not had the TT730 for very long, and only used it on the motorway once, when I was impressed with the lane guiadance. I was also impressed with the IQ routes which took me on a route from Cheshunt, north of the M25 to Catford in South East London in very good time on a route that I would have not considered. I am also pleased with the MapShare ability and the ability to alter the maps and add traffic cameras and POI's.
All in all I do not regret buying the TT730 and beleive that it will give me good service just as the 300 has done. But I am really disapointed about the lack of useful POI's, unless I was willing to accept that my nearest law court was either the Old Bailey or a french court in Calais. It also tells me that my nearest casino is Casino le touquet's in France and that my nearest cinema is 6.3 miles away, when the nearest complex is only ½ mile away! On top of that, I cannot download my own POI's because it will not allow me because of lack of space although I have fitted a 2gb SD card!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - excellent product and even better after service
Having recently had self inflicted problems with my TomTom (my son plugged in the wrong charger and blew it up!) I posted my system to Tomtom free of charge after they first sent me all the packaging, to have it returned in under a week fully repaired - again, no charge. I am extremely impressed with the service provided, it could not have been better.
I have always been satisfied with my TomTom for ease of use and accuracy. It came into it's own during a holiday in France. Highly recommended all round.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - TomTom Customer Service
The product is fine but the Customer Service takes one into a somewhat surreal world. My TomTom froze and was replaced promptly by Amazon but one is not allowed to register more than one device with TomTom and the replacement product must be registered by Tom Tom.. Two weeks later , having supplied all manner of serial numbers, proof of purchase etc my new TomTom is not registered and that means no updates are possible. My advice DO NOT BUY Tom Tom.
