Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Insipid and somewhat out of sequence.
Sequence is a board game that I found to be rather bland in all honesty. I played one very protracted game with my father as we nullified each other across the game board. I almost breathed a sigh of relief as I drew a 2-eyed jack from the pack that enabled me to complete my second sequence of 5.

The game itself is well presented in a durable box, a strong board with by in large nice iluustrations and 3 sets of sturdy chips in the colours of blue, red and green. I didn't like the heavily plasticated feel to the 104 cards and this would make me think that they could well be prone to splitting as you're shuffling your pack in the long run. This prevented me from awarding 5 stars to the durablity category of this product. One other issue that I had with the board is with the illustrations for the Kings on the board, they look more like Jacks as opposed to anything else and this is what I thought they were until I noticed K in the corner, the illustration on the board should match the illustation on the card.

I can't see that Sequence has an abundance of educational value for children, there are better learning resources in the form of games than this. The main thing that sequence does is it gets you think strategically, which of course adds considerably to the amount of time that this game takes to complete.

If you are looking for a quick dose of gaming fun, then Sequence really isn't for you. I think I'd prefer on both counts a game of Connect 4 or just playing cards with an ordinary deck of cards than this. Maybe,I've been a bit harsh as I've only played the one lengthy game of Sequence,
perhaps a second try is in order; the only trouble is I don't feel any particular compulsion to revisit Sequence again.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good, but more appealing to adults than kids
Sequence is a board game where the objective is to be the first to place five counters in a row on the board. The board is made up of squares with images of playing cards on them. Each player gets a hand of playing cards, and can only place a counter on the board on a square that matches one of the cards they are holding. Jacks are wild cards, so getting one of these allows the player to either remove an opponents counter, or place one of their own on any square.

This game is intended for 3 players, and seems to work best with either adults or teenage players. Whilst younger members of the family can join in, they may get bored fairly quickly. There is an element of strategy in where you choose to place your counters, and which counters you remove, which makes the game more interesting. It's not dissimilar in the strategy element to Connect 4 or Othello (anyone remember Othello?) although both of the latter are for just two players.

On balance, this is an enjoyable game, and definitely worth a look if you want something suited to three players (or three teams). But it's fair to say there are better games out there if you need to occupy more than three people - and we still prefer Othello in our house when there are only two people playing.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Great card & board game comination.
Players are dealt cards and play in two teams of two. The object of the game is to get a sequence of 5 on the board, a interesting game in which strategy, tactics are vital to win. You have to be on the ball and constantly changing strategy or you will be blocked, but then again you can block your opponent. If you like card games and strategy it's a great game.

The Sequence board is good, solid mounted cardboard. The chips are good, the cards are traditional card stock.

Sequence is a great game, it is a combination card game and board game.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - BRILLIANT FUN
We have had this game for years.
We love it, it is better fun when you have more in the teams.
It is our Sunday evening family get together after tea.
Brilliant.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - disappointing. Unnecessarily over-complicated and ultimately not really that much fun
Sequence can be played by either two players, two teams, three players or three teams. You are dealt a certain number of cards and then take turns to play these cards by putting a chip of their colour on one of the card images on the playing board.

The aim of the game is to form one or two rows of five chips before the other players can - resulting in a 'sequence'. This is kind of like Othello/Reversi and Connect Four.

We found the game slightly tedious to play. Unnecessarily over-complicated and ultimately not really that much fun. I'd recommend getting a pack of cards AND a game of Connect Four; rather than this mish-mash concoction.
