- A gripping film that is emotional and moving.
I did originally try reading the book but found it quite difficult to get into. But the movie is something different. A period drama in a stately mansion. A young man falls for a beautiful young woman, but a cruel sequence of events transpires that will change their lives. The movie contrast the story of one man against the war and can be regarded as a snaapshot of the social classes in Britain during WWII. This is a strange movie to categorise because it is a very unique blend of genres. Its is both a period romance, and a war film. My husband dreaded the idea of watching a film about 'posh' people talking about nothing, but after I made him watch with me he love it. The film also has a beautiful musical score. This is a sad, moving and amazing film.

Seriously not a film I would recommend. I spent half of it wondering when it was going to get going if you know what a mean, and the other half wishing it hadnt.
My fourteen year old daughter had pestered me to watch it I warned her truly I did but she insisted, she felt like me it was such a let down.
The acting was weak the film was poor dont punish yourself by watching it go for a run instead.
Rating: - Loved it!
Beautiful filming and the music is fabulous!
I think it is a wonderful movie and I recommend it warmly.
If you liked "The Painted Veil", you will most likely enjoy this movie too.

Well, that's two hours of my life I won't get back. James McAvoy is superb, that's the only positive thing I can say. The whole film is far too bitty, flashing backwards and forwards, and we never really see the damage done by Briony's lies. Keira Knightley is beautiful, which must be why she gets the roles, because she can't act to save her life. Very patchy, very shallow, unsatisfactory.
Rating: - Slap me with it, big shot
Keira Knightley and the bloke from Shameless star in this sing-along classic. Comparisons with Grease are this time justified.
