Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Brilliant Debut
Heavily influenced by 80's British music, Hot Fuss is a storming debut album by The Killers. Some people say it's an album of two halves but I'm not one of them. Yes the first half of the album is incredibly strong as it contains the four singles and the superb opener Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine, but the second half is not exactly poor in comparison. On Top and Midnight Show could well have been singles themselves and the fact that they weren't just shows the strength in depth The Killers have. Andy, You're A Star has a great guitar riff which I still love. Glamorous Indie Rock and Roll pokes fun at the phony "Indie Wannabes" stateside and still goes down a storm live. Believe Me Natalie and Everything Will Be Alright are the more soulful numbers needed to complete a great album.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not very original
I bought this album because I really like the track 'Mr Brightside' which is excellent and easily the best thing on the album. Some of the others are ok but I couldn't listen to this from start to finish as it would annoy me intensely. The reason I'm not that fond of it is because I often struggle to see a lot in mainstream pop music generally - it all seems to have either been done before or just doesn't mean anything to me I'm afraid! I appreciate that the band have been immensely successful and I would imagine that if you saw them live it would be a great performance. Not really my kind of thing on a CD though.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - not bad
Very derivative of 80's pop (duran duran, cure, smiths, etc). Little originality but sometimes that's not a bad thing. Lack the musicality and serious musicianship of, say, a Muse. In ten years time no one will remember them, but this album is ok when you are feeling a bit nostalgic for your youth (if you're 30 or 40)and dont necessarily want to pull out the more embarressing oldies from your collection.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A killer album .
A cracking album with stand out tracks that many people will be familiar with from their airplay on the radio . The other tracks grow on you with repeated plays . Turn up the volume and enjoy .

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Killers deliver!
When I first heard the Killers ("Someone Told Me") I feared they were going to be a one hit band. How suprised was I when I first heard "Hot Fuss". Man this was cool, finally another good band from the US (since the Strokes), a breath of fresh air in my UK Indie dominated collection.

Their second album even surprised me more, they were able to top Hot Fuss (that's my opinion). Even their new collection of B-sides "Sawdust" is really decent.

The only critic is that, after listening again and again, musically they are somewhat limited. They produce catchy tunes, sure, but don't expect any groundbreaking solo's (although they are also great live, I've seen them). Smooth productions and Brandon Flowers is what makes the Killers great! But who cares, they rock big time!
