Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - "The secret" was never a secret........
There never was a secret, this knowledge has been around since the rise of mankind. "The Secret" amounts to nothing more than a particularly shallow view of the real nature of our existence as seen through the eyes of a middle class dilettante and leveraged by quotes from positive thinking has-been gurus. If you are expecting enlightenment you will feel disappointment and emptiness - guaranteed. Look into the works of Esther Hicks for a more substantial and sincere guideline to improve your life experience in the physical form. Incidentally, unbeknown to many readers, the Hicks' segment was edited out because they wouldn't hand over their intellectual property rights to the author even though they are credited for input. Of particular annoyance too is the presentation - quite childish and more than a little reminiscent of the Da Vinci code. Capitalism, marketing-hype, and greed have no place in this domain, avoid this derivative pap.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - a bit disappointing
i read through this book thinking i may come across something new and untapped then i stumble upon the "law of attraction" theory and i got to say i thought the concept was completely ambiguous and debatable for instance , how could ones desire come true just by thinking? it makes no sense at all to me

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - 1 star because I have to!
I so much as humanly possible make a big effort not to judge people. My ex - brother inlaw is driven by the wanting of material things so I should have used my head when he swore by this book.

To think that trees have been cut down to produce this rubbish. yes i see and to some extent embrace the 'rules of attraction', but i dont believe that wishing on a star is the way to get what you want. Is brittney Spears happy? what about Elvis? Heather macartney anyone?? material things just dont cut it. They will tell you(maybe not elvis). wake up people.

Money is nice. material things are great. but dont attach yourself to wanting and craving and dreaming. it will only bring misery. You would be far better off reading 'Nothing Special' by charlotte joko beck. Afterall, isnt being happy what life is all about. being a good moral person, using right effort, right thought and right intention will help you realise your potential and achieve it. Not wallowing in the pipe dreams that are 'The not so secret secret'.

If you are shallow and materialistic then this book is for you.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Find Your Own Secret
Although I found some gems of guidance here, I much prefered Free Your Mind by Sensei Anthony Stultz for unlocking the treasure within.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - THE PERFECT GIFT ...FOR YOUR COMPETITORS!
Like a dark comet on a fast orbit, once every 7 years or so, there comes a book to sell (once more) the idea of...wishful thinking. I can remember at least two others, the shallow CELESTINE PROPHECY in the early 1990's and the more verbose ALCHEMIST around the millennium.
Right on schedule, THE SECRET came along. It too, peddles the totally unfounded idea of "wishing something into existence" as a good idea to live your life by.

There are a great number of self-help books that encourage the appreciation of what one already has and the understanding of what one really needs - trying to shade some light on the darkness of 21st century frantic over-consumerism. And that is indeed what most psychologists will advise as the road to happiness.
THE SECRET, however, does the opposite: it encourages the reader to wish for even more things - and offers no means in achieving them, other than "really-really thinking hard about them". Most people outgrow this infantile illusions phase by their 5th birthday...

This is the only situation where I can imagine THE SECRET working: if you are competing for a new position in your company, it would be wise to offer this book as a gift to all the people competing against you.
May I be the first to congratulate you on your promotion!

In any other situation though,

DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT...
