Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great resource - give it a chance!
This was one of the cookbooks I used the most when weaning my son - we did BLW and there are some really fantastic, easy, and healthy recipes in here.

To the reviewer who thought that it wasn't a good cookbook because of adding salt, I suspect you didn't read her introduction, in which she states quite clearly that salt (and Marmite) should not be used if making recipes for children under one. Additionally, regarding frying - babies and toddlers need plenty of fat in their diets to help healthy brain development, so there's no need to panic on that score! I used olive oil to saute anything that needed frying, and didn't use massive amounts, so did not feel that the recipes were unhealthy at all.

My son loved all the recipes that we tried in this book, and there were plenty - some great basics to try!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Not much use for babies
I have an 8 month old who has decided she would much rather feed herself than be fed, so i turned to this book to get ideas on finger food so she would at least be getting some variety. Unfortunately, I found it aimed far more at toddlers than babies with the only reference to babies being 'first finger foods' of the rather obvious fruit and veg. Even for the toddlers, I found that many of the recipes involved creating a patty of some sort and then frying it, a method of cooking I tend to avoid.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - not impressed
Not many recipes and most aren't very interesting. We did BLW so was hoping this book would provide some ideas. But big disappointment

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Not overly impressed
I must say I was disappointed with this book. I thought it was going to be better. There isn't actually that many 'recipes' and what there is isn't too exciting anyway. My daughter likes one or two of them, but unfortunately it's just not a great book.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I
I was struggling to think up new finger food ideas for my 11 month old son. My sister watches my son 1 day a week and finds it hard to feed him and her 5 month old daughter at the same time. The recipes in this book allow her to feed her daughter and leave my son to feed himself. Although the book was written by a vegetarian, there are some meat recipes included. The vegetarian slant meant that there are some recipes with ingredients that I wouldn't have normally used (lentils, polenta).
The book is well laid out and beautifully illustrated. There is useful nutritional and storage information. I would say that the recipes are suitable for the older baby and there are still some recipes I won't be using until my son is a bit older.
There are "treat" recipes included and the blueberry muffins are great - a low sugar option and birthday treat for my son who loves blueberries!
