Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A poignant kick up the backside to laissez- faire dads!
This book has been a real eye opener. Not only did my husband feel empowered by it, but I also realized that my attempts to be the perfect mother (doing it all) have sometimes undermined him. As a result, for the last three weeks, I have taken a small step back and am pleased to report that we are already seeing a real change in my husband's relationship with our son. My son is still as loving as ever towards me, but now that his dad takes him swimming on his own etc.. my three year old son positively jumps out of the chair to see his dad when he comes home from work. And ... the lovely thing is that my husband is just as eager to play with our son. Long may this book continue to inspire!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A lovely,thoughtful book
I borrowed this book from my sister(she has two boys, and I have one boy and two girls)and knew that I would have to get my own copy. This book, for a relatively short tome, is packed with anecdotes, ideas and a genuine sense of purpose.I found myself sometimes laughing, often knodding in agreement, and a couple of times crying. Mothers don't know what it's like to be male;this book goes a long way to guide us in the right direction for the long term benefit of our sons, our partners and our future grandsons.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Doing It Differently
I know that I wasn't raised very well by my father and I aim to do things differently. This book gave me lots of tips and solid "how-to's" for the various stages of my boys life.

Also highly recommend The Romantic's Guide by Michael Webb. Helps teach boys how to be a good husband by being a great example. This book was a hint, hint gift from my wife and I'm really enjoying it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A factual and clearly written guide for raising sons!
I've just finished this book. Each page made me feel that he (the author) was speaking only about my sons. I have two boys aged 3 and 8 and this book has given me great comfort as I always had a sneaking suspicion that we had to raise our sons somewhat differently from our friends' daughters.

Now that I know that the surplus energy they seem to have is natural, I can relax and not feel that it is something that has to be controlled.

I have read several excerpts of the book to my husband, who has already started acting on the advice. For that alone my sons and I owe you much thanks.

For anyone who had sons, or god-sons, grandsons or nephews, this book is essential reading.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Do your son a huge favour and add this gem to your basket.
This book oozes practical, supportive advice, clarifying what boys need at each stage of their lives; money well spent if you really take parenting seriously (and who shouldn't?)

An excellent one for dads too as the importance of their role is emphasized. Food for thought and digestion.
