| La Cage Aux Folles is a hilarious French farce that spawned two sequels, a Broadway musical, and an equally good, but almost scene for scene remake (The Birdcage). Some people have said the film has stereotyped gay characters and that Serrault's constant screaming is annoying. | I must say that this was an excellant film all around. The quality of the production and the acting was outstanding. DeCaprio did a fantastic job, in fact the best acting I've ever seen him do to date. I was totally impressed with the story and I could not find one poor performance in the film. The script is based a true story with damatic additions I'm sure, however it was a very enjoyable film if only for the chance to see what I believe is some of the finest acting I've ever seen. | This movie is very disturbing. Sure I have seen and enjoyed many Cheezy movies and independent movies too. But, this movie goes beyond cheezy. | A must see coming of age story set in France during the Algerian War. Gaël Morel was perfect. Stéphane Rideau is shown young and absolutely gorgeous in some risqué scenes of the film. My only complaint is the DVD's inability to remove the English subtitles. |

| I bought the DVD and I know the series pretty well. Series 1 was really original at that time and somehow darker than its US counterpart. Series 2 is a kind of tale that aims at closing the series with a tacky but emotional twist. |

| Deneuve is in a subdued role in this film. She's also in a supporting role so the film cover is a bit misleading. The story is not as strong as others that she's chosen. Daniel Auteuil is great as the cop who is entangled in the life of a trouble-making young woman. Extremely sexy in this role, he plays the role of a strong yet conflicted law enforcer well. The film is a bit weak in its flow. It's not the worst film but it's also not extremely good either. |
