VHS : Evil Dead II
..It's not nearly as good as the original in my opinion. Despite the more professional look and better pacing, I prefer the original for its lack of slapstick. The first worked so well because it was such an unrelenting and grueling experience and was the finest horror film since "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". It didn't take prisoners, and while its a bit dated it still has the power to terrify the audience. Not to mention it had some great if primitive stop motion effects. I really wish Sam Raimi would make ... Read More:

VHS : King of Hearts
This movie has the very best ending ever. I'd like to see someone try and find a more surprising, happier, funnier ending than this one. The loonies are in town and they've found their king and my heart. This movie takes the bag. It's my father's very favorite movie and one of mine. I definitely recommend this movie.

Evil Dead is a pretty decent movie, offering up some genuine chills.
there is one particularly effective scene.you'll know which scenes i'm
talking about if you watch the movie. the acting was decent, with no
hammy overacting w there was not much comedy in this movie.it was
played pretty straight, and was effective for the most part.the plot was
pretty straight forward although bizarre to say the least.the demons
were quite revolting.this was a low budget movie, but that did not
detract ... Read More:

This movie is very disturbing. Sure I have seen and enjoyed many Cheezy movies and independent movies too. But, this movie goes beyond cheezy. Its also Pretty much a porno flick for those of you who have not seen the film. It also has its funny in areas to release some of it's discomfort. The simplicity of the story is testament to Waters' gross-out goals. Divine stars as Babs Johnson, the matriarch of a trailer-dwelling family-gang that relishes its tabloid label of "filthiest people alive." Thus infuriates Raymond and Connie ... Read More:

In my case that was 1969. That's when I saw this in a double billing with Barbarella (1968) at West Point, NY.

The music is great and it brings back a part of history. Can the Beatles save Pepperland? Remember we all live in a Yellow Submarine. Instead of just buying the soundtrack, buy the movie and you have them both. I guess I will have to buy it also to hear "Hey, Bulldog!" Of course as with most movies there will always be someone one that prefers the original and knows that it was cut that way on purpose.

And ... Read More:

Save your dough.

A british kid goes on adventures with a bunch of hammy-acting little people. At the end, his parents die for no apparant reason. (Before some film school moron e-mails me with the reason, I got it. It was just dumb.)

Get "Brazil" or "Munchausen" instead. Gilliam's off his game here. Or try "12 monkeys." That's a great film

VHS : Friday the 13th
The original Friday the 13th is not the first, the most original, or the best slasher film ever made, but it is arguably the most influential. You almost have to take off one of your socks to count all of the sequels (and impending remake) this slasher granddaddy has spawned, and I daresay the majority of slasher films littering the genre in all the years since were constructed on the generic and simple framework of the Friday the 13th formula. Critics are still foaming at the mouth in indignation over this film all these years later, so you ... Read More:

I can see why this film met with mixed revies upon it's release in 1978. People still wanted The Beatles, and anything short was unacceptable.
Well, this may not be The Beatles, as Peter Framptom and the Bee Gees perform most of the vocals in this Rock Musical. But the actual music, and sound, is superb. They must have had a studio band backing them, as there are some great rock guitar solos (not Frampton). There is no index card inside the set, so we don't ever find out who all the mucians were. It's also pleasant to watch, an external ... Read More:
